I'm Jen Sherman--the creator, designer, and artist behind Caterpillars Candles. I grew up with a need to create..Always trying new mediums, fabric, paint, fingernails.. (retired manucurist :0 )
Right now, it's wax, scent & dye. With over 5 years experience in creating candles, I have a knack for detail (some might call it obsessive...), a persistent imagination, and, as cheesy as it may sound, the passion to create. I am in love with crafting the perfect candle!

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has proposed new federal regulations that will allow manufacturers and retailers to sell controversial irradiated foods without labeling them, as previously required by law. Consumers are justifiably wary of foods bombarded with nuclear waste or powerful x-rays or gamma rays—since irradiation destroys essential vitamins and nutrients, creates unique radiolytic chemical compounds never before consumed by humans, and generates carcinogenic byproducts such as formaldehyde and benzene.

Washington state first in the nation to ban PBDEs
Washington state will be the first in the nation to phase out nasty fireproofing chemicals called PBDEs, which show up in the bodies of people and wildlife and may cause neurological damage. Yesterday, the state Senate passed a measure that will eventually ban home items containing deca, the most commonly used PBDE; the House had already approved the bill, and now the governor is expected to sign it into law.
